Our Mini Awesome Vacation in B.C

We really do not take many vacations as a family.  The last vacation we took was to go back to Wisconsin for Christmas in 2015.  This year we decided to drive to B.C and hit up a few sights that we have wanted to see for awhile and we had a blast.   Luckily it was a last minute trip and we got into the LAST campsite at Revelstoke Campground.  It was a wonderful place to camp.  They had a pool, goats you can feed, ducks you can feed, movies on certain nights, ice cream socials every night, and more. ...

A Date a Month Challenge

Let's face it.... I am a mom of 3, business owner, wife, I work overnights, and try and keep my house clean.  There really has been no time for Richard and I to enjoy each other's company.  I have decided that it is time to take back the romance and for the next year, we are going to be taking 1 night or day to ourselves and enjoying a date.  Afterall, I think we deserve a little bit of fun!! I don't want these dates to be the same as they normally are though.  I want us to explore, have...

My Life’s Mission Statement

Tonight as I was reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, the author was talking about creating a mission statement.  I absolutely love this idea.  I think I will even get it made into a canvas so that it is hanging in my home. I may even take it one step more and as a family, we can create our own mission statement and do the same thing.  Create a beautiful canvas with it and be reminded daily of the words that we have agreed upon as our mission. I thought that I would share with you my personal...

Let Me Be Your Reflection

There are moments in my life where I truly wish that I could take everyone's pain away.  I wish that they could see that the pain is temporary.  The struggles they are going through are temporary.  That they are worth so much more than they believe they are.  I want to show every woman who cries that she is beautiful and she is worth it.  I want to be that support system for every woman. I know what it feels like when that reflection staring back at you isn't what you want it to be.  It's lonely, frustrating, demeaning, and...

My New 101 Goals in 1001 Days List

As I was rereading my list of 101 goals in 1001 days, I realized that most of the items no longer were working for me and honestly probably never did.  That's probably because I had to look up other lists for inspiration and I just started to randomly put things on my list. Well this time, I have created a list that I am excited to complete and looking forward to start crossing things off.  Seriously everyone needs to create one of these goal lists.  It's better than a bucket list because it gives you the end date. So here...

My Dark Days

If you follow my blog, you know a bit about my past.  You know that in 2003, I was raped while I was in university.  You will also have heard me mention that I went through a very dark period in my life.  However, you don't know much other than that.  It is something that I never spoke of but when I was sitting in my CPR class the other week, we were covering mental health.  We broke up into groups and my group was talking about depression and suicide and it got me thinking.  I should share more about...

Tasty Tuesday: Nourish Bowls

If you don't know me personally, you don't know that I started a new job.  I am now working awake overnight shifts in a group home.  This means that there are some days, that I need even faster and healthier meals than ever before. As I was walking around Walmart the other day, in the deli I noticed a product I had never seen before.  It was called Nourish Bowl.   There were 3 different options to choose from and I picked Sesame Sriracha. I decided to throw some chicken breasts in the crock pot with some water (I ran out...

Self Love: The New Love at First Sight

What do you think when you hear people talking about self love?  Does your mind instantly wander to some actress, musician, or famous person?  Is it really possible to attain self love? I have found that on this ride we call life, there are so many possibilities as to what beauty is.  There is no one set of rules that one must follow to be beautiful.  Isn't that great?  That means there is no pressure for all of us to look the same, act the same, or just be the same. I remember when I started the self love journey, I...

Airdrie…. Our Home

I remember the day 3 years ago like it was yesterday.  All the excitement for seeing my husband for the first time in almost 4 months.  The rush of finally seeing our new home.   The whirlwind of the last 4 months finally coming to an end. The kids and I boarded a plane headed for Calgary from Toronto at a time that is way too early to remember.  I believe my alarm clock went off at about 3:30am so that I get could get up, shower, do my hair and make up.  After all, I was seeing my husband after...

A Dream Realized

Do you know when you have something in your life that you want to accomplish and you work hard day and night to get it to become a reality?  The feeling of unconditional happiness as you watch it unfold before your eyes is just amazing!!  This is how I am feeling. On Saturday June 24, one of my ideas that I had been visualizing for months and months became reality.  I had an empowering photo shoot with women.  7 women showed up to support me and the vision that I had.  7 women felt comfortable with me, my journey, my...
